Oh so nice

Just did a set with a friend in Norfolk (see photos). it's so nice to be shooting again. I've been too busy and so have my photographer friends which is a bummer because I really love making pictures. I've done more art direction, though, which is awesome. I recently designed costumes & sets for RVA mag's halloweek issue. That was so much fun, working with Kimberly Frost (kimberlyfrost.com) and christian & GF Mary (RVAmag.com). I'd love to post it but I have to figure out a way to get my hands on a web version first.

I also just did a runway show called Night of the Living Thread. it's a really cool benefit for breast cancer that gives noobie designers each a different bag of used clothes and other fabrics and sets them loose to use their imaginations. I was wearing an awesome piece that my friend Mattie made for me. I will also try to find some photos from the show if I can. There were about a million pictures taken but lord only knows where they end up.

Now I need to focus on my film completely. It's totally draining but I can't wait to see it come to life. I will definitely post that guy when I am done shooting.

xo

Rants and raves... but mostly rants.

Why are people on the internet so rude? It's like they are all of a sudden empowered to say all the nasty little nit witted things they would never say in person. Be nice as a general rule. You never know how it might come back to bite you, but you can be sure that it will.

I apologize that it's mostly rants. It would just take so much longer to write about all the things I'm stoked about!

Defeating terror by promoting... terror

I know none of my American friends on here are watching the Presidential Press Conference going on right now and even if you're on the west coast you probably won't watch it in an hour. I presume that you're too bust thinking about Pete Wentz or how you can talk your parents into paying for an MCR tattoo (Ahh... the future is in your hands...). Anyway since no one sees it first hand I figured I would just go ahead and let you know that our President is completely Bat shit insane. He's always been fantastically bad at interviews but now he's just completely given up on forming any kind of real answers and instead he squints his beady little eyes at the questioning reporters and says, "Ha. I'm not going to fall for that, I know what you're trying to do- you're trying to trick me!"

He treats press conferences like a game of King of the Mountain and he's the one on top who will do anything to keep those tricksy reporters from stealing his thunder.

It's pretty pathetic. BTW if you were worried about the poor little children there's no need... because we have awesome helath care here in America. Clearly.

Suicide Girls.

This rant is inspired by the lovely jbaxt3d who is a good dude and a great photographer with (thank god) some class.

Me qtd in his journal:
I fucking hate SG. I cannot believe that girls are still stupid enough to model for them(/get totally ripped off). And I can't believe that people are still stupid enough to give them money, not to mention the photogs that sell their souls to work for them. It's horrible and they are trying to fucking monopolize the world of alt porn. Not a big fan of alt porn at all but I especially don't appreciate all that suicide girls has done to make people think that girls that are modified must also be total whores. THAT is something that I will speak loudly and proudly about. I am not a whore- fuck you SG.

In case you didn't know:
-SG claims to be a site for empowering women but they have done a lot more to make modified girls look like prostitutes.
-The SG contract says that they own the image and likeness of their models. They own their tattoos.
-They steal work from photographers and then threaten to sue them. it happened to my very good friend and talented photographer Kathryn Parker (www.machinedance.com)
-They have sued hundreds of people that have done nothing more than contribute to their site.
-They pay their models $350 a set and own the images forever reserving all rites to them forever even if they take the model or photographer to court/kick them off the site etc.
-They have become a tyrant in the alt porn industry trying to monopolize the business and they file law suits constantly because they are money hungry and pathetic.

I hope they try to sue me now. Maybe they can change the first amendment to silence everyone who speaks openly about how fucked up they are.
Don't give them money, don't model for them, don't shoot for them.

Hair har hair...

I'm growing my hair out. I hate it. I always have short hair because it's easy and it looks better... but I'm just determined to grow it out because it's never been long and now it's finally past my shoulders (awkward stage) but now I have to style it all the damn time which is just plain annoying! I don't understand how people wake up like 2 hours early to do their hair! Geez louise! I'm too busy/lazy. I also really need to just go ahead and sew in some damn extensions... my hair is pretty thin, but I don't want to deal with annoying itchy, pully extensions. I am such a horrible girl.

Favorite quotes

Yes, everybody's dying to be somebody else, but I'll live my life if it kills me.
-e.e. cummings

Anyone who has declared someone else to be an idiot, a bad apple, is annoyed when it turns out in the end that he isn't.
-Frierich Nietzsche
(Everything Nietzche has ever said is an amazing quote. I think I will just begin and end all conversations with Nietzche quotes from now on.)

A man is a god in ruins. When men are innocent, life shall be longer, and shall pass into the immortal, as gently as we awake from dreams.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

To be social is to be forgiving.
-Robert Frost

Life - and I don't suppose I'm the first to make this comparison - is a disease: sexually transmitted, and invariably fatal.
-Neil Gaiman

Be careful what you pretend to be because you are what you pretend to be.
-Kurt Vonnegut

I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I intended to be.
-Douglas Adams

I suggest you read any and all things that any of them ever had to say.
